Playa del Duque
The smartest beach in Costa Adeje, backed by the coastal promenade, beach clubs and the big resort hotels of El Duque.
Playa del Duque is the beach most people picture when they think of Costa Adeje. It is a wide stretch of golden sand in front of the El Duque hotels, with the coastal promenade running right behind it, so cafés, toilets and shops are a short walk away.
Sunbeds and parasols are available to hire in rows along the sand. The atmosphere is calmer and a little more upmarket than the busier beaches to the south. Mornings are the quietest time.
The beach faces west, which makes it one of the easiest places in Costa Adeje to watch the sun go down over the sea, often with La Gomera on the horizon.
Local tips
- Arrive early in high season for the front-row sunbeds
- Walk north along the promenade to La Caleta for dinner
Beach facilities and sea conditions change. Always follow the flags and lifeguard instructions where present.
