Whale and dolphin watching from Puerto Colón
· CostaAdeje.fun
Pilot whales live off this coast all year. What to expect from a trip and how to choose a responsible operator.
The stretch of sea between Tenerife and La Gomera is one of the few places in Europe where you can see whales on almost any day of the year. A resident population of short-finned pilot whales lives here, and dolphins are common too.
Where trips leave from
Most boats in Costa Adeje leave from the Puerto Colón marina. You will find everything from short boat rides to longer catamaran trips with food, drinks and a swim stop.
Choosing an operator
Pick a company that follows the official rules for responsible whale watching. Good operators keep their distance, limit time near the animals and do not chase them.
Tips
- Morning trips often have calmer seas.
- Take a light jacket. It can be windy on the water even on a hot day.
- If you get seasick, sit near the middle of the boat and look at the horizon.
- Check the weather page for wind before you book.
