Where to watch the sunset in Costa Adeje

· CostaAdeje.fun

The coast faces west, so the sun goes down over the sea. These are our favourite places to watch it.

Costa Adeje faces west, so on clear evenings the sun sets straight into the Atlantic. On many days you can see the island of La Gomera on the horizon as it goes down.

Our favourite spots

Playa del Duque promenade. Easy to reach from most hotels, with benches and cafés along the way.

La Caleta seafront. Pick a terrace at one of the seafood restaurants and time dinner with the sunset. Book ahead for a sea-view table.

Callao Salvaje. The higher ground west of La Caleta gives a wider view over the sea and is quieter.

Timing

The sunset time changes through the year. The weather page shows today’s sunrise and sunset for each area. Arrive about 30 minutes early for the warm light, which photographers call the golden hour.

When it does not work

Low cloud or calima, the hazy dust that sometimes blows in from Africa, can hide the sun. Check the forecast for cloud cover before heading out.
